isitdaytime.com
Overview
isitdaytime.com provides subscribable events for your calendar, be that Apple, Google or Microsoft. There are four categories to choose from - 'Sunrise', 'Sunset', 'Moon Phase' and 'Weather Forecast'. You can subscribe to any combination of these, or you can subscribe multiple times to different events.
'Subscribable' means the events are not added to your personal calendar, they are contained in a new calendar provided by isitdaytime.com. This enables you to turn the calendar(s) on and off, as appropriate.
Give it a try: It's free!
Subscription Expiry
Subscriptions expire in early January, up to two years after they were created. As an example, if you subscribed to a calendar in May 2023, it will be available until January 2025.
You will need to resubscribe here once your subscription expires.
This removes all the abandoned calendars that are being automatically downloaded, ensuring the remaining calendars are still being used.
Search
Search looks for an exact match if you enter 3 characters or less, and a 'starts with' match if you enter 4 characters or more. This is to reduce the amount of results, as the database is very large.
Dates/Times
All the locations in the database have a local time zone field, so all events will be provided in the time zone of the location selected.
Events are 'rolling'. Past events are removed every day, and new events are added as needed. As an example, if you subscribe to one month of sunrise times, you will always have exactly one month of events; as the days pass previous sunrises will be removed, and new ones added.
Adding A Calendar
Apple
Simply click the link of the relevant location, and your device will prompt you to add a calendar; that's it!
Google/Microsoft
Copy the URL from the link of the relevant location. Paste this into the 'Add A Calendar From URL', 'Add An Internet Calendar', or similar in your client application.
Sunrise/Sunset
Sunrise and sunset times are provided for either '1', '3', '6' or '12' months, in either '12-Hour' or '24-Hour' time format. I also show the location so you can subscribe to multiple sunrise and sunset times, and easily see which one is which.
The sunrise and/or sunset will be provided at the actual time of the event, in the location's local time.
Sunrise times are rounded down to the nearest minute (so they don't appear later than they are), and sunset times are rounded up to the nearest minute (so they don't appear earlier than they are). This method is probably best for religious purposes, ensuring that times are respected accurately.
Moon Phase
I provide four Moon phases, 'New Moon', 'First Quarter', 'Full Moon' and 'Last Quarter', for a full year. I also show the location so you can subscribe to multiple moon phases, and easily see which one is which.
The Moon phase will be provided at the actual time of the event, in the location's local time. This is accurate to the minute; it is not an approximation.
Weather Forecast
Weather forecasts are provided for 10 days from, and including, the current day. They are updated frequently throughout the day. Forecasts will be provided in the selected units, either '°C/km/h', '°F/mph' or '°C/mph'.
The summary shown in your calendar provides daily minimum and maximum temperatures. I also show the location so you can subscribe to multiple forecasts, and easily see which one is which. Opening the event provides additional data such as 'Rain', 'Wind Speed' etc.
Alerts
Weather alerts from major national weather warning systems are also provided. These will appear as separate events on the relevant days.
Hills/Mountains
The weather forecast is also available for most of the hills/mountains of England; e.g. Scafell Pike, Kinder Scout etc. Hopefully this will be of use to the fell walkers out there.
Costs
Running this service is expensive! I'd really appreciate it if you would 'Buy me a coffee', using the link at the bottom of the page.
